In construction daub is a material, usually clay or mud, that is used to fill the holes in a lattice of woven sticks (which is called a wattle). In creating this new line, I thought the description was a great fit for the blend of wire work (wattle) and woven seed beads (daub) that make up each piece. Besides, isn't "daub" just a fun word to say?

What is "oxidized"?
When silver oxidizes it becomes darker or, in other words, tarnished. I oxidize most of my silver pieces on purpose, because once the wire-wrapping is re-polished you can really see all the the detail and intricacy of the technique. I also usually oxidize my silver chain, but that's just because I think it looks cool. :)
Caring for a Daub
It is very easy to keep your daub looking the same as the day you got it. Just follow these handy tips: - Bead weaving does not like to be wet.Soaking can cause anchor threads to become visible, and the weaving could become stretched out of shape as well. While normal moisture (humidity, a light rain shower, or even a little perspiration) is not a problem, do not swim or shower with your daub. - Do not use liquid jewelry cleaner on daubs, as the liquid will remove the purposeful oxidizing.Use a polishing cloth or pad to keep the silver and copper shiny where it should be. - Though as a whole bead weaving is quite strong, individual beads that make up the whole can break under pressure.Please don't step on your daub, allow your cat to play with it, or use it as a place to set your coffee mug. Love your daub, and it will love you back for a long time. -Please feel free to contact me for upkeep/ replacement parts. If you need fresh oxidizing, a new piece of 'veggie' suede, or an extender chain, I will do everything I can to meet your request. The cost of upkeep and repairs will be handled on a case by case basis.
